How to set up a FiveM roleplay server

Setting up a FiveM roleplay server takes time, but the path is clear. This guide gives you the general order so you build things in the right sequence.

What you need

Step 1: create the license key

Go to portal.cfx.re and create a key for your server. If you buy Escrow resources, use the same account to avoid problems.

Step 2: install the server with txAdmin

txAdmin comes with the FiveM server and is the easiest way to start. It has templates that install a framework and set up the database for you.

Step 3: choose a template

Select your framework's template and follow the wizard. When it finishes you will have a basic server running.

Step 4: test before adding anything

Join the server and check that everything works. It is much easier to spot a problem now than with twenty scripts installed.

Step 5: add scripts gradually

Install them one at a time and test each one. If something breaks, you will know why. The full process is in how to install FiveM scripts, and what to prioritise in essential scripts.

Step 6: prepare your community

A good server also needs clear rules, an organised Discord and a staff team. Before opening, run a test with several people at once.

Before you open

When you are ready, browse the scripts by framework and category.
